Ok, the coolant is coming from a small hole that is just below the intake port. All 3 intake ports have this hole, but only the center one is leaking. I thought it was a head gasket and decided to take it off. As soon as I remove the manifold the coolant started coming out stronger. This hole is covered by the intake gasket. Any thoughts on what this is? Cooling jacket leak?

After much thought, can this be for the heat box for the manifold/carbureator? If so, I don't have one on this setup so it is just a question of plugging the hole with some sealant and tightening the gasket and manifold flange tight.

It might help if we knew what engine you are working on. There should be no holes into the cooling system to the intake on a '50s era Chevy six. Is this a V8?

Not sure which engine you have. However the stock intake on a 216,235,and a 261 are all heated by the exhaust manifold. No water in the stock intake. Lots of after market 2 and 3 barrel intakes use water to heat. If it is a threaded hole then use a sealer and a set screw to seal it. If it not threaded find out what it is before you put a "goober" fix on it. You will not like the results. Trust me. The intake/exhaust gasket is only under compression at the ports and does distort in between them. So it won't help you with sealing anywhere that is not a port. If the hole is easy to get to you can run a tap in it a little ways and then put in a set screw. That might work just fine.

It is a 1954-235 engine. It is very small pre-drilled hole that exists beneath all 3 intake ports. It is not threaded. A 1/8" drill bit shaft fits into the holes. It originally appeared to be a leak at the head gasket until I took off the manifold enroute to removing the head. At this point, coolant flowed out of the hole. It is a Clifford manifold with a 6:8 stamped on it.

I ask about the water heated manifold only because I am aware it has been used in the past but it does not exist on this engine. As soon as I can figure out how to post a picture I will.

If it is on your head, the holes will be underneath your ports but beneath the gaskets.
