You need the little clamp at the end of the throttle cable to keep it in place. check out this one and look at cletis's pix, maybe that will help click here

On the arm leading up to the carb....I have a bracket attached on the long shaft....it looks like a spring attaches there and then attaches down by the motor somewhere... | | |

I'm not sure where mine originally attached down below, it was wired to the exhaust pipe! So I fabricated a tab that bolts up under an oil pan bolt and ran the spring down to that. | | |
