I'm just learning about these engines and so far I thought all the 261s had the new style water pump. Did the early ones use the same style pump as the earlier 235s? If so, which years? Its possible this engine has an adapter plate on it for that pump but I really can't tell for sure.

Of course, you would have to match the year/style of the pump to the block (or use an adapter plate, if you have the 54/55st block).
