I put the horn button retainer (new) on and nothing works. The retainer seems to have no movement. I have the spring between the steering wheel and the column. Is there a spring between the retainer and steering wheel. I am unable to find an assembly view......Thanks for the assistance | | |

#98206 11/23/2006 1:58 AM | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | there should be a diagram in the assembly manual, tho it was written for 55 and the 55/6 wheel and column is different - there is a spring on the contactor that fits in a hole in the wheel and makes contact with that retainer, which itself provides the 'spring' for the button
your symptoms indicate that something's wired wrong - the column normally provides the ground for the horn when the button's pressed and that contactor completes the circuit
