| | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 133 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 133 | I installed an electric wiper conversion on my "48" 1/2 ton a few months ago and drove it for some time without the wiper blades installed. When I finally got around to installing them I found the stop point has the blades in the up position. They operate perfect but stop in the up position. Is there an adjustment to change this. I would think it needs the electric switch to open in a different location but not sure if this can be change. As I recall I got the motor from Jim Carter.

Had to adjust the park on it
On the Newport there is a socket head cap screw that you loosen and reposition to adjust.
The screw is on the hub under the arm that the two transmission arms connect to.
I'm surprised that your transmission arms don't bind when they sweep if your park is midway.

In my mind I am thinking in need to adjust when the contact opens to kill power. If my park is up and the first action takes the blades down I would think adjusting the hub so the blades are parked down will just bind the arms since the action is trying to go down more. I need a call for the wipers to start in an upward motion, opposite of what mine are doing now. I checked, this is a Newport motor. I will have to crawl under the dash and look.

If you swap the arms at the motor, top for bottom, that should fix your problem. Undo both e-clips, put the bottom arm on top and the arm on top, on the bottom post. Re install the e-clips. There might be some tweaking involved. | | |
