I am restoring a 53 chevy pickup. the divider bar was broken off when I got the truck and I need to re-attach but I was not sure if it was welded to the back of the rim inside the window frame or should fit inside the frame and butt welded and ground flush. Any help would be appreciated.

It goes to the inside (dash) see pictures. Has a couple spot welds top and bottom so you will need to grind flush so it does not interfere with gasket or trim.

I'll take some pictures of the '48, the glass is out.

If you PM me your email address I'll attach the pix. Just so much faster than uploading them.

OOps, the windshield is the only glass not out yet, however the trim is off so you can see it clearly from the inside.

The strap is spot welded INSIDE the lip on the bottom and spot welded OUTSIDE the lip on the top.
