Hi Everyone,

I purchased this vehicle from my stepdad last month, had it shipped from NM to VA, and have had a blast driving it around! I am taking it in next month for tuneup and some electrical repairs but I am looking for some information regarding styles. I have noticed some have the vertical swing doors in the back and others, like mine have the "Horizontal lift and tail gate" doors. Sorry if this has been covered before. I have yet to sit down and read all the great info!

I also wondered about the "brake light" located centered on the tailgate that is on a swival connector. Not sure what this is and why?

Pics coming soon.

Looking forward to being part of this great site!

I also have a 1958 Cadillac Sedan Deville and a 1959 Chevy Impala,(both at the beggining restoration process) thus my name.

Thank you everyone.

Welcome to the Stovebolt,my258sone59. You will most definitely see why the Stovebolt is the best old chevy GMC site on the web.
Great folks here willing to share tons of knowledge. Take time to learn your way around and check out tech tips and links.

....be sure to ask questions in the most appropriate forums. Guys in the Panel-Suburban forum will jump all over your questions and give grest answers.
I think you will also find many bolters in the Va. area. Heck, you may be close to headquarters?
Good luck, see ya around the garage.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

WHEN THE REAR LOWER GATE IS DOWN IN THE OPEN POSITION, THE LIGHT WILL FLIP IN A POSITION THAT CAN BE BE SEEN BY THE CAR BEHIND. THESE ARE REFERRED TO AS CLAMSHELL TAILLIGHTS

Welcome, looks like you have your hands full with 3 vehicles to do all at the same time. Lots of info here, as you mentioned, if you need help, just ask.
