It will stay outside under a custom doghouse style enclosure. It needs a new muffler, air hose, water separator and a regulator to reduce pressure from 175 psi to something lower and usable. Suggestions? http://i1278.photobucket.com/albums...ir%20compressor/102_4649_zps1268cb2f.jpg | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Jay, if you ever intend to do any painting be sure you set it up so as you get DRY air. Even though I've not had any problems in almost 10 years, and I do no painting I wish I had did a better job on set up. That sucker should give you all the air you need | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 96 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 96 | With the exception of filling tires everything you use compressed air for wants to and clean and dry. An after cooler between the tank and the pump will do wonders for getting it dry. Compressors are like politicians they make a lot of hot air. Got to cool it to get it dry. For regulator trap and filter good old ebay look for either 1/2 in or 3/4 in. Need the filter to remove the oil. | | | | Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,917 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2011 Posts: 2,917 | With the exception of filling tires everything you use compressed air for wants to and clean and dry. Any hints what kind or size I would need? | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 96 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 96 | It's a high pressure radiator essentially. People have used ac condensers. It's an option on some of the better compressors. Much like a chiller except it's between the tank and the pump instead of after the tank. | | | | Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 785 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2011 Posts: 785 | I use a Pneumatech refrigerant dryer that I got off ebay....works very well. I ran the air right off the compressor head into it and then in the tank, so moisture removed before it hits the tank: Pneumatech dryer . | | | | Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 295 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 295 | Refrigerated air dryers are the best of all methods to get dry air. Downside is they take more power to run.
Compressed air often has 1/2 the input power to the motor in it and it is hot. IF you run a water cooled after cooler you can extract much of this heat and use it to heat shop incoming cold water or, or.
IF you really must have near absolute dry air then the refer unit would be able to do it at much smaller size and power consumption.
