What was the difference between the early AD Fresh Air heaters and the 1953-54 Fresh Air heaters?? I have one from a 1954 truck, but I notice they sell a heater core for heaters up to 1952. Is the core different? In the picture it looks the same to me.

The 53-54 heater has a door to route the heat into the cab.

The earlier version does not as shown in this picture of a NOS unit.

I am unsure on the core fit? If there is a difference it must be because of the door.

Cores are different. Physical dimensions and the inlet outlet tube arrangement is different.

The control cables are different, too. The cable controls the defroster pre-1953; and, the cable controls that interior/exterior-air door in 53-55.

Yeah mine is like the first picture with the 2
doors to allow it to recirculate interior air or bring it in from outside.
I also have a nice recirculating heater with the
round core, but the core is bad. :-(

Here are the two factory/dealer installed heaters for your truck. There are several aftermarket heaters that were available to.
