I have a 1946 Chevy 2 ton that has a vacuum brake assist and I don't know how to tell if its working or how to repair it if it isn't... Anyone know how I can check or fix this?

put your foot on the brake pedal then start truck. if brake pedal drops slightly then most likely its working. disconnect the steel vacuum line from the unit(line coming from engine) if you get brake fluid running out then some of the seals are leaking and the unit is on borrowed time. if you havent post a pic of the unit.
