I've been wanting to tackle a build for a long time and remembered an old truck my uncle had parked out in the field (farms seem to grow old trucks). $500 later and I'm now the proud owner of what I believe to be a 1953 GMC.

I've just started collecting some info and the truck and I'm hoping the kind crew here at Stovebolt can help me fill in the blanks. To my limited understanding the truck is a 1953 GMC 9300 Pick-up delivery. I've had no luck locating what the paint code indicates(it appears that it was red at one time) or the trim and body.

Model:9314
Serial:3931403979
Engine:C663699
Trim:394
Body:1827
Paint:331

Thanks in advance for any help and I'll get some pics up in the next week or so.

Welcome to the Stovebolt page, aka the 'bolt. You've come to the right place. Congrats on your farm fresh find! Look forward to the pics.

This site has lots of info and helpful people. The forums are organized by category. If you post your questions regarding your truck in the General Truck forum in the Parking Lot, then you'll get help for sure.

Also, keep checking back in here, because I'm sure there will be more people who will want to say "hi". One fellow Canadian who also happens to own a '53 comes immediately to mind. wink

Again, welcome and we'll see you around.

Thanks Husker, I'll get a post started in there for my questions.

Hopefully the links work. There's a couple crappier pictures up. I should have some better ones in a bit.

Welcome JWicker, that truck should be Chevy powered if it's made in Canada. I agree, farms always seem to have one or more old trucks in the back forty. Good luck with it.

So I finally managed to get heat in put in the garage(working on a truck at -30 held little appeal for me) and got the truck in as well. I've got most of the front end removed and am prepping to pull the engine and tranny. I'm looking at upgrading the suspension and steering once everything is off the frame. A mechanic friend of mine suggesting looking at one of the Mustang suspension kits. Anyone tried one of these out or is there a better solution out there?
