For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 82 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 82 | I found a slider switch under the dash of my 1941 chevy truck this morning. It is under the throttle and choke knobs. I found a switch on line that shows it as a dimmer switch. I also have a standard dimmer switch on the floor. What is it? | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | dash light switch, one position is dash lights, one is map light, 3rd is off Bill | | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 82 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 82 | thanks. Is this because they are 6 volt. Also, where is the other light socket supposed to be? Thanks in advance. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | location: http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/chevyowner/42tom07.htmhave you looked under the dash? do you know if all the dash bulbs are there and working? is the slide switch wired up? do you have a wiring diagram? what condition is the wiring in? Bill | | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 82 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 82 | wiring is new. THere is a wire labled power to the switch. No other wires that i can tell will have to do more investigation. Will get meter out and bend my back to determine what is miswired or not wired. | | |
