After checking the block number I can't seem to identify it through all the normal routes. After using a little "Purple Power", the Block # shows S52018KAN. Thinking I made a mistake, I looked at the title and the exact same number is listed for the VIN. Any help will be appreciated. Both were used over more than one year.
The date casting codes tell you when the block was cast and when the head was cast. Their locations are shown at the link I posted above.

That code above the engine serial number is interesting: MRC45439
Maybe someone has an idea for what it is/means.
Since the engine is a car engine, that code might be a DMV code for a replacement engine?

On the distributor side of the engine I see this on the head: 913 and below that, B 48
The number one above looks a little like a slash.
If this is a 56 passenger car engine, does it have hydraulic lifers? ..and regardless, what year/model should I use for tune up specs (timing, valves, etc.) | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,212 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,212 | My two cents on your numbers are this... I think the 92 at the end of 0315592 was added. The factory number looks like 03155 F56Z, making it the 2,155th "Z" engine made in Flint in 1956. I agree with Tim, the MRC number is more than likely a remanufactures serial number and the 92 could be the year it was done. Mike B  | | |
