I've asumed for some time that this was a carryover from '59 when O = Oakland. This rig was the 918th unit off the line & was titled in Nov. of '59 so it's eary production. I believe Oakland & Fremont were part of the same complex, but does anybody know if the production shifted mid new model year of was this just a matter of getting the 'Z' stamp in place of the 'O'? Also, any idea of when the change took place? Long live the bolters!

What point did the factory stop production of the stainless trim below the rear window on a custom cab? VIN # OC1540113009 1960 C10 LWB

I just purchased 1960 Chevrolet fleet side 4x4, all original big window which needs a complete frame off restoration. I wanted to see how to decode the Vin number which will give me a breakdown of everything.
I'm either looking to sell the truck as is, or I'm considering restoring it back to factory specs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
