I just bought a 47 chevy 3600. original motor was sold before I bought it. everything else is still seems to be there minus the cab floor( rusted out)and chrome. Is there a way to tell what options the truck came with originally or even the color. I don't see anything other than the vin plate.

You might see original color(s) at locations where exterior parts are bolted together (fender to cab, for example).

No, there is no way to know what options/accessories came with/on the truck, unless you have an itemized bill of sale (or, original order form).

That "vin" plate is most likely the Vehicle Serial Number plate. The term "VIN" or "vin" was not used back then but it might have referred to the VSN or the ESN (Engine Serial Number).

As Tim says pretty hard to know what came with the truck but you can look for some options like the following.

Wheels-several options available.
You say the engine is gone options there would have been air cleaner or fuel pump.
Cab-does it have corner windows, chrome grill, stainless window moldings, RH mirror?
What kind of heater (3-types available in 47), RH visor, cigarette lighter or a radio?
There are a few things you can look for.

Here are the standard exterior colors and finishes in 1947, page 1 and page 2.

Here is the Chevrolet Truck Specifications Manual for 1947 - from the GM Heritage Center (that is a large file that will download). Information on options and accessories might be in that manual.
