The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay Ignition Wiring Help Please...

The previous owner snipped all the ignition wires for some unknown reason... On the box behind the dash, there are several male spade connectors. I need to know if the wires had female spade type plugs on them and which color goes where. I have a manual on order, but it's on backorder. Thanks in advance!!

I must apologize. I read your profile and thought you had a '42 pickup, when in reality that is your cylinder index, (whatever that is).

After checking your previous posts, it appears you have a '57 pickup.

The page I linked does not have a diagram for that year, so it looks like I wasn't much help.

I know I have seen diagrams for your year truck...red58 probably has one for sure.

I will take my Prozac now and hope someone with some solid info pops in to save the day!

I noticed that it didn't have info for 57 trucks after I went to the page and read it no biggie, at least you tried to help! BTW, a cylinder index is simply adding up all the pistons you have in your household. i.e. lawn mower, weedwacker, cars, trucks, etc. Then the goal is to have a cylinder index that is close to your age Thanks again for the help attempt...

I've got a good diagram for the wiring on a 58 Chevy, but I don't know what if any differences there might be. If you like, I could send it to you. Sorry, I can't remember where I got it, but it is definitely easier on my eyes than the one in the shop manual. Probably because it's an electronic copy that I can print out as big as I need it to be.
