The sending unit will need to be matched with the fuel gauge you are using. There are a couple different electrical values ( ohm readings) that the sending unit sends to gauge to show correct fuel level. Once you determine what the gauge requires go back to carter and asks suggestions as they should know what sending units fit in the tank they sold you. Good luck.
