I think that the only reason to go to a specialty vender is when the local parts store doesn't carry the part you need. Much of the time, the parts are the same where ever you go.

Plus some parts are just junk.
Will get the dizzy and try it out.

Clutches and pressure plates and flywheel bolt-patterns varied much more over the years. Distributors varied very little - basically two styles and two drive gears (53/54 are the years to be careful with). Fit should not be a problem with a 1958 distributor.
"Cheap" is another matter, Materman's post should allay that concern.
