I am rebuilding my hood, has anyone done this before?
I have cut the spotwelds and removed both inner braces. I have them sanded, primed, and painted as well as the outer skin.
I ordered and have the hood foam seals from Classic Parts.
My question is this: There are two small seal pieces in the kit that will attach to each inner braces (total of 4 pieces) so which ones go where?
The trick is that each set of seals are of different thickness. (2 that are just over an 1/8 inch thick) & (2 that are a 1/2 inch thick)
My logic is telling me that the thicker seals would go on the rear brace where there is more movement to the outer skin.
Does anyone know for sure?

BTW, I know that the long seals will be used on the bolt in cross braces that tie the forward and aft inner braces together.

I have a great interest in your hood project. I have 2 decent hoods and am trying to buy a 3rd hood. My plans are to dissect and rebuild the worst hood of the lot and then repeat it with my best hood. I have not seen anyone post clear steps in the process. I see mostly before and after photos with a short explanation but no steps explained to guide us. Please take pics. I plan to start mine this fall.

BTW I put the thicker seal on the back brace and it seems to have worked fine.
Of course as I am ready to weld up where all the spot welds were my regulator broke so I am stuck with a clamped up assembly.
Sometimes if it were not for bad luck ...

The long, thin foam pieces, run between the hood braces and the thicker, shorter foam pieces, go left-to-right along the rear inner hood structure. Make sense?
