It uses a bolt on the bottom, no stud.

| | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,644 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,644 | Just took off, inspected, & reinstalled the starter on my '51 project Saturday. The stud on the top side allowed me to "hang" the starter then crawl underneath to put the bolt through the bottom hole. With no stud up top I would have to have held the starter with one hand while I tried pushing a bolt through at the top......and the starter is heavy!!!
