This is my second grain truck that I have brought home, El Paso, TX, from the Midwest that did not have mud flaps on it. Does anyone know what the law stipulates in Texas?

I am a licensed inspector in Texas. Any vehicle with dual wheels in the rear except for truck tractors, pole trucks, motor homes and buses need to have mud flaps within 8" of the pavement. See Reg20.22 on page 4-22

I'd like to find old vintage mud flaps. Is there any place on the net where you can buy that ?

OK, I've got to ask, what would be "vintage mud flaps"?
Fleets mostly used plain black, farmers used whatever was cheapest and possibly home made. Trailer makers put their name on them. The Chevy symbol hasn't changed in decades.

I guess that leaves advertizing, but it's not like "Central Truck Parts" had a date on them.

I just look for old style mudflaps with trailer makes or company names on it.
Not new ones that tries to look old, like all the metal plates you see everywhere that looks old but is brand new.

I took old rubber mats so they will have to do. For now

maybe some like this? or maybe have some custom made with "Viking" on them or just find some plain black rubber ... the "fancy" metal plates are to add weight to keep the flaps hanging straight

Not necessarily vintage, but there is a Delta truck body plant in the next town over from where I live. I knew a guy who worked there. Many of the cab and chassis trucks that came in there had mud flaps on them, but Delta put their own on after the bodies were installed. The guy got me a brand new set of the take offs. They have the name of some truck stop in Kansas on them, but the price was right!

The NAPA logo flaps haven't changed in forever. Rub some dirt on them and call it vintage.

Most flaps of the 50's were just plain black. You need to determine how long you need them. Flaps come from about 18" to about 36" long depending on where they are mounted. They need to be about 8 inches from the ground. I'm not sure if you can find flaps like are used in the USA in Europe because most trailers are tri axle with single wheels.

I bought straight black thick rubber from a company dealing with ecxavators. So I have that, but still wanted to find old ones with old company names on them

Why would you want some other company's name on them? Why not get solid black ones and paint Last Chance Towing on them!

In New Mexico a guy told me I had nothing to worry about because it is a farm truck. Not so in Texas or what?

Not sure about Texas, but Farm Trucks around here in Virginia are only supposed to go 30 Miles out, although I just read where that got changed to 50 Miles.

I still got a set of GMC Truck Flaps brand new still in the box from the early 80's. I've been waiting to put them on something, but soon after I bought them, I've been ending up with Chevrolets!!
