has anyone used the military style tires on the big bolts? they are pretty decent priced but im not sure how they would look on a big bolt. pics if you have them please.

I put some on mine to see if the wheels would fit. They fit the rear but not the front. The military wheels are 7.50's and do not clear the steering linkage but they appear to be a viable option to replace the Firestone RH5 wheels on the rear. Here are some pics.

I found 9.00x20 on a surplus site for 125 a piece. RandyJH you said you swapped wheels. Did you try the tires on the factory wheels.

My truck had dry-rotted 8:25X20:00's,when I bought it. I use 8:25X20:00's,("Hi-Way") tread,on the "steers",and 4 "Armstrong" (9:00X20:00's,for my "drivers".) I use the origional rims,and have had no problems. Probably put 1,200 miles on them,since purchased 3 years ago. I wouldn't recommend 9:00's,for the fronts,though,due to steering clearances,but the taller rear tires help gain speed,more M.P.G. I was a little disappointed with the slight "dry-rot" issue,when I had the tires mounted. Stress cracks didn't appear,until tires were inflated,(naturally). Even though they were never used,they sat for years,in a warehouse.This doesn't affect bias-ply tires near as much as it does radials. I'd ask first,to see how long the tires have been stored/date of mfg. I gained about 5 M.P.H.,by switching to the taller tires,and I LIKE the tread design. Mine are "Bi-Directional",which means that traction is accomplished,both forward and reverse. You may check out my photo's and video's to see the tires. Hope this helps.

Welcome,RandyJH!! It appears that your (rear) tires are 9:00X20:00's. The stock rims should accomodate 7:50-9:00's as long as they're 20:00's. Steering clearances will be affected by the 9:00's,though.I use 8:25's for my front tires,and nothing rubs. 7:50's on the front look too small,for the wheel opening,for my taste.

I did not try the mil tires on the stock wheels. I tried the mil tire/wheel combo on the front and rear for wheel fit. The clearance problem on the front was with the wheel. My goal is to get rid of the RH5 split wheels.
