i was doing some reading about up-stroking a 261 using 292 rods and cadillac 368 pistons. Im thinking about doing this to my 261, it has a 848 (235) head. i need to figure out what kind of performance this would get me with a t-5 transmision and a proper rear end ratio.
the vehicle is a 59 1/2 ton

Reading it, it sounds doable.... Just takes money...LOL
I wonder how much the breathing can be improved on a 235/261 head? I notice they recommend using the stock 261 head, yet on over it says you can have the top of the block machined so the piston comes closer to the top and raises the compression. I thought that was why they put 235 heads on 261s??

i don't think he recomended using the 261 head, it was an alternitave to finding a 848 head.
my question is would the engine be happy over all with with a longer stroke, and how it would affect the top speed since it limits the rpms

It is doable. Tom Langdon built 1 or 2 of these that I think he sold. If you aren't aware he is a retired GM engine design engineer and did all the research necessary for the Cadillac 261.
Expensive? Likely.

With more power you could always upgrade the tranny to a 700R4 automatic or a 5 speed with overdrive in top gear and something like a 3:90 rear end
