I was unable to press out the shaft. Every way I tried it broke the cast iron. It is easy to clean them you just can't replace the shaft seal. It might be possible if you grind the weld to shaft off. I did not have an acetylene torch. If you used one you would have to replace the seal. Its a custom seal but you might find something that would work. I converted my '38 coupe and love the improvement. There are a couple of rebuilders that can rebuild your lever action shocks. Apple Five Points
