How hard is it to rebuild front shocks on 1/2 ton pick ups ? Or am I better off buying rebuilt and sending back the cores ?

I bought several cores on ebay. I was unable to press out the shaft. Every way I tried it broke the cast iron. It is easy to clean them you just can't replace the shaft seal. It might be possible if you grind the weld to shaft off. I did not have an acetylene torch. If you used one you would have to replace the seal. Its a custom seal but you might find something that would work. Lever action shocks.

Unless you're wanting to have an original suspension I'd recommend converting to tube shocks. I converted my '38 coupe and love the improvement. There are a couple of rebuilders that can rebuild your lever action shocks.

I considered rebuilding and after reading about and talking to others about their experiences and results decided my time and effort would not be worth the cost difference. I bought rebuilt replacements.
