Do you guys cut the drain holes in the bottom of the replacement cab corners.... The ones I have don't have drain holes, but the originals do....

I'd put some sort of opening in each side. As you most likely know, the original hole was an a slit that was pushed down to form a "hooded" opening. Maybe someone will post a photo?

I drilled a 1/2" hole in the bottom of mine. My truck is fair weather only, I would think seasonal use requirements should figure in to your plans.

Yeah there is still part of one hole left in one side of the corner. Looks like I could slot it with a Dremel and then make a blok in the shape of the opening and hammer in the opening. About like a very little louver or half moon opening.

My patch panels came with a 1/4" or so hole in the bottom. I plan to install a rubber plug so as not to have an opening for bugs, noise etc. into cab. Well another opening, I know these old trucks don't seal too well. Anyway, if water gets in the corners from the inside, I can remove plugs to drain the water. I plan to seam seal the inside of the corners as well.

do you plan on checking for condensation on a daily basis? for how many years will you keep that up

As others have said it is the low spot in the cab so everything ends up there, bugs, dirt, bits of flotsam and jetsam. I coated mine inside with POR-15 during and after final welding. They will never wear out in my lifetime but if your replacing them you want to do it right. Coat and allow a drain hole to blow stuff out on occasion.

What are trying to do, Brad, open a POR-usage can-of-worms (or, a rat's nest)?

I agree with you - I am using POR in that area on two recent restorations. The flotsam and jetsam in the cab corners in those two desert (no moisture/condensation) vehicles were mice/rats nests - they [censored] where they sleep, it seems. Rust free bodies with rotted-out cab corners. It literally [censored] me off.

Also, those places are mostly out of sight. I bet they would not get regularly inspected.

I've seen trucks around here with the cab corners filled with cement.....

I thought about putting some 1/4" screen over the opening on the inside to keep out the mice.

has anyone tried this Leak Seal stuff they sell anymore? Seems if it works as they say, it would be great for the cab corners and inner to outer cowl areas up front.
