I installed a s10 alternator based on recommendations when I converted to 12v because it has a grooved wheel, however the recommended belt has never stayed on despite being replaced and checking the alignment. Just realized the fan wheel is flat, not grooved. Apparently it was replaced at some point. What is the best fix? Can the fan wheel be replaced? Will a flat belt work better? Change alternator?
Thanks for your advice.

do you mean a 10SI alternator or one off an S10 truck? what's a "grooved wheel"? do you mean a pulley for a ridged serpentine belt? need to clarify your terminology, they're pulleys, not wheels, and the pulley in any location can be changed, all should match the width and depth of the pulley on the crank snout [balancer] and take "V belts", not flat - the length and width of the proper belt will depend on the specific setup of the alternator and whatever engine it's on [which you should state], the pulley that came on the alternator was for some other application, that's the one that needs changing
