I've been looking through the gallery and I've noticed that their are few '38's. Is there a reason for this? Was there a low production that year? It also occurred to me that I rarely if ever see them at show or on ebay...ect. (cars or trucks for that matter) I honestly think I've seen more '42's and 45's then I've ever seen 38's why is this?

Part of the reason would be that 1938 was a recession year. Car sales boomed in 1937, then sales for all makes of cars (and I'm assuming trucks) dropped in 1938.

Makes perfect sense. I'm thinking about restoring a '38 or building another '40 for a work truck with left over parts I have from a 1940 1 ton restoration. Was the engine/transmission/drivetrain similar to that of a 39-46?

I believe 1937-1939 216 engines were the same.

I have a 38 and parts are hard to find or they have large price tags. A set of real steel fenders are listed at $800 to $2000 on eBay. Fortunately you can by glass a little cheaper at $224 each

So that makes our '38 Chevys worth more?
