Being that I don,t have a lot of money,...will red oxide due on galvanized steel ? Thanks. Cheers

galvanized metal requires pre-treatment before anything will stick, including epoxy, but if it's new, unoxidized or rusted, material, it doesn't need a primer, acrylic paints will adhere well after surface cleaning - pre-treat by washing with soapy water, rinse well, dry, then treat with a weak ammonia solution or strong vinegar solution, rinse again and dry, then sand, wipe well with a tack cloth, and paint

I have always found an "etching" primer works best on Galvanized and aluminum. Zinc oxide was the standard for years but there is now some rattle can etching primer from Rustolium and Krylon that I tested and it works very well. Spray on clean metal just like any primer.

Check the Technical Data Sheet for the primer you are considering using over galvanized metal. In particular, if you use a self-etching primer, unless it is also a sealer, you will most likely want to put some sort of water-proof primer/sealer over it.
