For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 76 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 76 | I have installed a T-5 5 speed transmission out of an 80's Camaro and switched the tail housing to move the shift lever forward. My question is what is everyone doing to keep the original 3 or 4 speed transmission lever look? I have both an original 3 and 4 speed transmission with the shift levers to use if there is a conversion, or do you cut and weld them in place. I have also seen some aftermarket levers for sale but not sure which one will fit with this type of transmission to truck swap. Any suggestions? and pictures would be great. My shifter/trans sits higher and is closer to the seat so I got an after market shifter (short throw) and had the original shifter lever modified. The first mod didn't work because it would bend when shifting. The second mod is strengthen and shorted. mod 1 mod 2 Bread .

Where did you purchase the short throw t5 shifter at? For some reason I cannot open the Mod2 link, I was actually going to attempt something similar to the first modification but since that failed for you I would be real interested in your second modification. Can you link it again or send me a pm so we can talk on the side and exchange pics that way. Thanks, Mike | | |
