Hi all, my question today is will a 292 engine drop into an AD (1940-1946) 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck without major modifications? The reason for the question is I have been around 292 engines for quite a while,and I admire there ruggedness and pulling power. If I am able to locate a truck and if the 292 would fit I believe that it would be the way to go. Your thoughts please and thank you for the information.

Motor mounts are different, fuel pump location, water pump height, length, valve cover height, harmonic damper length and diameter, plus lots of other pieces are all different. Can it be, sure if you can adapt and fabricate. Bell housings can be had to hook late model engine to early transmissions and still have the correct mounting points.
