Took over a 19540 Chevy 3800 1-ton dually from original owners. Was a daily driver on their horse ranch. it was fired up everyday 2x a day for ranch work no problems. folks sold the ranch and it sat idle for 2 years.
Question: where these originally a 12v system? appears that old battery is 12v, looks like a alternator is installed.
Anything else to check?
What battery size should work for this?
Thanks Boom

An alternator is an indicator that changes have been made, most likely to 12v, but there is very small chance it is a 6v alternator.
If the battery has 3 cells (caps), it is 6v; if it has 6 cells (caps), it is 12v. 8v batteries were a rare "upgrade".
Post a few of the light bulb numbers and they can be identified as 12v or 6v. | | |
