Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 145 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 145 | Just got the 63 C-10 panel truck on the road last week . Starts and runs fine now that it is getting used more . I am finding that going downhill or decelerating I can feel and hear the engine stumbling a bit . Would the carb be the first place to look for the cause of this? Everything under the hood is original . Had it out for a two and a half hour trip this week ,used $25 worth of gas to go that far. From the tail pipe colour it is running rich , but thats only a guess. Thanks Murray

I would rebuild the carb just for piece of mind. The kits can be had at any local parts house (around here anyway) and the carb is one of the easiest to rebuild. Clean it three or four times using small copper wire to clean the ports. If its not clean, you wasted your time.
You should see 12 to 14 ( US ) miles per gallon, I wouldn't expect more then that. With a clean carb, it wouldn't hurt to add fresh spark plugs. This would also be a good time to check the points, plug wires, and condensor.

Wife drove it before that and it was missing under hard (her normal) acceleration . I did just look at the vacuum advance as I had to replace it on the 54 . Iv'e got an hei unit sitting in a box for this motor , better get to it. Thanks | | |
