For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 23 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 23 | I am almost done restoring my 1946 chevy 1.5 ton, But I am in need of a complete windshield, is there anywhere that I can order a complete ready to install windshield for this truck. I know that Chevs of the 40s has all the parts that I could assemble one piece by piece bt I am hoping to find somewhere that has a complete one. Thanks in advance. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,961 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,961 | I recently bought one on eBay for my 46 GMC 1.5 ton. And I see them listed ever so often. 41 to 46 GMC and Chev are the same. I actually found mine on a search for 41 GMC. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 163 | I haven't seen them as a preassembled single unit. | | | | | Joined: May 2004 Posts: 1,312 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2004 Posts: 1,312 | Very simple to put together. I took my frame sections, glass, and center bar to a local glazing shop. He used polyeurethane glazing compound to set the glass and assembled everything for me. I installed the Steeles Rubber gasket around the perimeter. You end up with a butt joint in the rubber which is glued together with 3M adhesive recommended by Steeles. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2008 Posts: 77 | | | |
