My new 1950 3100 has a tag in the door jamb on the drivers side with a serial number. I ran the number and it says it ays it's a 3/4 ton built in Janesville WI in May of 1950. Cool except that the sides of the hood have "3100" emblems and the wheel base is 116 inches. Unless I'm mistaken wheel base is measured center of wheel to center of wheel. I bought the truck with a title and retitled it when I bought it. Was there a short 3/4 ton made or do I have an incorrect data tag? Hmmm.....

Sounds to me like your cab has been replaced with one from a 3/4 ton. How many lug nuts?

6 lug nuts. I thought I knew something about these trucks until I bought one. Any light you can shed I appreciate! Thank you. Jim

a 3/4 ton would have 8 lug nuts. Also the back half of the drive shaft is open. (along with many other items)

Easy to swap cabs and depending on your personal ethics to swap plates. It may be problematic if you should ever sell the truck. If you plan on keeping it forever it should not be an issue. A lot can happen in 60+ years, the fact there is no other serial number anywhere on the truck makes it pretty easy to swap.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm not sure what happened. May have been inadvertent or may have been planned due to convenience, I'm not sure. I bought it titled and our dmv retitled it it my name so I may just let a sleeping dog lie and enjoy the truck.

Yep, defiantly sounds like a 3100 that had a cab swap done or
maybe they just swapped the ID tag???
Is it a five window?? If it was a three window might be that
they wanted a deluxe cab.
