For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 22 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 22 | I have a 48 half ton with bad front springs. They are flat with no spring remaining! Has anyone installed air bags in an instance like this? I could build the brackets but don't want to put these in if they will not work. Thanks, Bob

We saved about 400 lbs on the trailer and so far we are pleased with the setup. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 | There isn't much room to install airbags on these trucks. Especially, with the way the steering linkage is. About the only place to istall them would be on the inside of the frame.
Why not just get new springs? There are a number of different outlets for them such as; Suspension king, SD Truck springs, and Eaton Spring. Not to mention, almost all the parts houses have them too. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2009 Posts: 1,596 | Springs are a much smarter way to go. By putting airbags on you're just using a Band-Aid instead of fixing the real problem. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 90 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 90 | what if you pull the leafs and run a bag set up kinda like a semi. two link and a panhard. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 | Original style springs are available from many vendors and are probably a lot cheaper than fooling around with air bags. | | |
