how does a shade tree mechanic bench test the generator?
how about bench testing coils?

start the car and pull a cable off your battery. If it still runs the generator is good

thanks that gave me alot of information thet i needed,,, i am in the restoration phase and before painting the generator i want to be sure it works,,i have three to test if they fail,i will just put an alternator on...
