| | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 64 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 64 | Looking for some advice a good 283 pistons .I am using the stock crank 010-010. 030 over borewith Eagle i beam rods and 305 heads ,voodoo cam ,headers ,and 600 cfm holly.Not going to be a race truck just a crusier.The only thing I see out there are sealed power pistons or KB Hypereutectic pistons.Does anyone have any advice on what to use?

If your voodoo cam is a hydraulic one then either of those pistons should work since the lifters will limit the rpm long before one of those Eagles can yank a wristpin out of a piston. Seriously, if turning 5500 or less they will do the job and we have turned the KB's way above that on claimer circle track engines. 283's with their 3 inch stroke are much easier on pistons (at the same rpm) than their longer stroke cousins.

Big discussion of what all may have gone wrong but heard there were some issues with the KB's so I went back with forged pistons--5k later no issues. Its not for performance just a nice driver.

Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.
