Hey all it has been a long time but thing are back on track. I have been working hard on getting the front axle and suspension restored, and updated. So far most of a couple hundred hours have been spent in front of the blast cabinet. I have also spent many hours running a 4 ½” grinder with a wire wheel on it.
It is all starting to pay off as the axle is now back under the truck hanging on new springs and it is looking good. The hubs are almost ready to go back on as soon as I finish with my modifications on the seals and bearings but they are going well.
The axle has new kingpins, brakes and brake hardware, new wheel cylinders, and all the nuts and bolts have been replaced. All the cast parts have been painted with East woods natural cast and all the tin with semi gloss black.
I lost most all of my truck pictures to the Webshots debocle so I have now opened a new Photo Bucket account not sure how to use it efficiently yet but here is a link to it.

Looks good. And shock mounts? I don't have shock mounts!
Need to get off my butt and redo my front springs, thinkin they shouldn't sit in a straight line with no load on her.

I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things.
But thats just MY opinion!

Photo bucket account has many new pictures posted sorry no tags or organization yet. There are a bunch of fire hydrant pictures to weed through as well.

Since webshots has gone to the wayside I started a photo bucket account but am having a hard time learning the ropes to its use. I have tried to change the link in my post to the new account but am having troubles. If any of you see what I am doing wrong some help would be greatly appreciated. If you can get the link to work there is two albums with lots of pics of the new front axle brakes and steering. To finish the front end I still have to port and plumb the steering box and mount the steering assist cylinder to the axle. Then I will need to decide if I will use the stock column that would require cutting it from the factory box and adding a bearing for the shaft at the bottom, or use an aftermarket column. The plumbing of the steering system will include the hydro booster for the brakes as well.

It does not work for me.

Maybe because I do not have a photobucket account, or maybe because you can see your private photos but others cannot?

".... we cannot find the page you requested"

probably because there's no user ID in the address

Moved over to the Passing Lane

OK now it appears as I have broken the code and found a link that works.
So here is an overview of what was done here.
The old felt seals have been updated to double lip seals, the inner bearings have been updated, the king pins have been replaced, the brakes are all new, springs shackles pins and u-bolts are new and the steering system has been up dated.
