My '42 is the MR code "134 1/2" wheelbase. From what Gm heritage site has, there are many factors as to what your max weight would be. Optional equip, tire and so forth. From what i figure it's within the 10-14,000 lb range. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 21 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 21 | I'm unsure if my truck is 1941 or 42, it is shown as first regestered here in 41 but I have received information that it could have been produced in 42, I can't seem to get any positive information either way | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | is that first registration an original document? if it was first registered in 41, it can't be a 42 .... I don't think there were any trucks actually produced in 42, they were just using up the parts left from 41 production with changes in designations to denote the later year ... 41-46 ratings should be the same

Is this a right hand drive truck? Be aware of your max tire ratings, both for singles load and duals load at the proper pressure.
Our commercial tire supplier just found out that a load rate H tire from Continental was different from a Goodyear. One had an axle rating of 18,000 and the other 20,000 on an axle rated for 20,000 for the pair. In the case of the 18,000 tires, the vehicle front end rating of 20,000 was reduced to the weakest link of 18,000 because of the tires. Both manufacturer sticking with the govt required "H range" but one tire having less capacity. Afterall, it is a range! | | |
