I found that on the first try I had the linkage on the wrong posts, Then I found that one of the posts was frozen and wouldn't swivel, Now I've got everything working fine, But I can't keep the spring retainer to stay on. Does anyone have any tips on how to go about putting them on? Thank you, Terry

Like Slick69, Mr Spitler addresses the problem of keeping the arms on the spindles with the use of C-clips. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 Ex Hall Monitor | | Ex Hall Monitor Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 6,377 | It's been a while since I removed/replaced the wiper linkage but if I remember right there are grooves in the part that the clips fit into. Make sure your clips are in those grooves and you should solve the problem.

Wouldn't those C (some call them E) clips be a bit difficult to remove if you ever needed to once the wiper motor is in place?

These are available new. ($2.50) Don't know if they are being popped off by misalignment or not in groove to begin with or spring is shot? But wrong arm on wrong place and frozen shaft points to misalignment/assembly problem. Those guys will stay on for a 100 years. Be sure that motor (I guess vacuum in your case) is mounted correctly and not crooked or missing a grommet/spacer.

And I imagine it would be hard to keep one that small from flying on removal.
