I have an 11" flywheel out of a 59 3 ton farm truck that I'm trying to get resurfaced. The machine shop guy says everything he finds says its supposed to be flat, but to make it flat, he will have to take quite a bit off. Can anyone tell me if my flywheel is supposed to be "stepped".

Are they original?

What transmission is it?

I don't know what model farm truck, just that it was a "farm truck".
I'm putting the 261 in my 41 sedan with a T5.
The machine shop has the "disc surface" flat. He estimates he'd need to take another .007 off to make it flat all the way across the flywheel.
So if it's "steeped", its not much of a step.
What's really bizarre to me is, if it is worn, why is the disc surface higher the the outer surface?
