I have a 1954, 331 Hemi and I would like to know if it will fit and clear the frame rails. If you know of it being done, how about letting me know! | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 | do a search on the hamb for a guy who uses 65standard as a handle...his build is unbelievable......dave 1949 Chevrolet 3100 "When this thing hits 88 miles an hour, you're going to see some serious sh%t." -Doc Brown

I've also seen plenty of LS motors in them too. Can't see any reason a Hemi cant' be done. I'm sure the inner fenders and steering shaft/gearbox will need to me massaged. | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 222 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 222 | Thanks for your thoughts. The truck has a small block in it now and when you set the old hemi next to a small block it looks more massive. The heads are larger and I was concerned that there might not be enough room for headers to clear the frame without having to set the engine up much higher. I am not registered on hamb so I can't see 65standard's build but I take it he did put a Hemi in his truck. At any rate, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,168 "Hey! Bill put a 331 hemi in his AD and gives a step by step pictorial for his project. He also has a lot of info on early Hemis.

Nothing's a problem for him though,he's a master with metalwork! 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr.
