Any one here change their lock pins to have the door and handles keyed the same? Their self?
My truck came with an ign key but no door key and I'm thinking of just resetting the pins in the door tumblers to match the ign. (Anti theft dealt with separately) Looking for any tips you may have.
Thanks

I did mine, I used a Frisbee so as to not loose parts, I re-arranged the tumblers to fit the key I had. Mag glass or bi-focals are a must, these are tiny parts.

Easy to do if you have the pins. '64 got lucky. If you have 4 that match it wouldn't hurt to leave one open.

In waiting to connect with my neighbor about pins this evening a question came up.. Was there a separate key for door and ignition or were they keyed the same originally?

They were originally keyed the same. The door lock should have it's code on it.

Yes, it is easier to re pin an ignition lock. Finding a locksmith with a code book that is over 50 years obsolete may be a problem. If you'll PM me the code number from the door I'll look up the cut to give to a locksmith.
