Hello to everyone. I have been restoring my 1960 Viking 2 ton, and now need to rebuild the master brake/clutch. I have been searching all over the web trying to find either a new one, or the kit with the right pieces to do BOTH the brake and clutch. Most say it is the "complete kit", but it is only showing one rod and parts for the brake. Can someone help me find the right part number for this rebuild kit for both brake and clutch at the master brake cylinder (located on the firewall straight in front of the brake/clutch pedals).

Many thanks to all

Still no help from the Big Bolters? Any suggestions as to where to get the "complete" master brake cylinder repair kit?

Thanks.

You won't find one kit for both cys. but Napa shows the part # for the brake section as 261 for ones with 1 1/4 in. bore & 253 with 1 1/8 bore. The clutch section is #254 and has 1 1/8 in bore.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Hy dwightviking1960, please try and be patient when asking questions, we all have lives away from this site, and mine took me away from here all day yesturday. There is no one complete kit, the master cylinder and clutch master each require their own kit. The part numbers I found for complete master cylinder/clutch master are Raybestos p/n MC19089 1 1/4" bore $80.41 Can.$ at RockAuto, and p/n MC34404 1 1/8" bore $47.49 at RockAuto. I could not find any stock of parts to rebuild the clutch master at RockAuto the p/n is 254, that should have two letters in front of the number, but MC in front of the number yeilded "no parts found". The Raybestos p/ns for the master cylinder kits are MK253 1 1/4" bore $15.42 at RockAuto, and MK261 1 1/8" bore $21.15 at RockAuto, hope that helps.

Wrenchbender and 3B......thanks for the very detailed information. Now I know that I need to order both kits...one clutch and one brake. Now I will just have to find out the bore size...1 1/8 or 1 1/4.....on my ole Viking. Im guessing 1 1/4 since this is a 2 tonner. I think I found a complete new master brake assembly for around $50, so I am thinking this is the most logical way to go instead of getting the rebuild kits.

Sorry for the impatience earlier....I wasnt sure if the post was working properly.....next time I will just give it more time.....as you say, we all have many life responsibilities that always come first.

Welcome, dwigtviking1960!! Sometimes when it takes a while to get a response,it's because these guys are trying to find out as much information they can,in order to answer your question(s),to the fullest. The first "big' truck I drove was a 1960 Viking 60 dump-truck,with a 10' Heil box. I'm not sure how the truck started its "life",but I'm sure it didn't start out with a 10' box,on a 12' frame. It had a wooden tool-box mounted above the frame-rails,between the cab,and the box. Truck had a 283,420 trans,2-speed vac. rear. I drove "Her" just about every day,for 8 years, back in '78-'84. Before I got "Her" running,"She" sat for 15-years,waiting to get used, again. Set of plugs, carb re-build,brake bleed, and re-wire the lights, and "She was back on the road! Two-day's work, after sitting for 15-yrs! "She" was a good old truck! Just had to make sure the upper pins wouldn't pop-out of the tail-gate,when dumping a large load! That tail-gate weighed about 400#,and I had to man-handle that thing back in place,(from the ground),a couple of times!Wonder why I got a back left! L.O.L.! Got any pic's?

WetWilly.....Howdie friend. So you spent 8 years behind the wheel of your 60 Viking dumptruck. I wonder how many times you racked your left knee into that dogleg beside the dask? Do it once or twice, and one tends to remember not to do it again. That was a heavy tail gate you had to manhandle back in place!

I posted pictures on my other posts.....just look under my recent posts, and you will see some before and after pics of my ole 60 viking. I would attach the link here again, but now I cant seem to find the button to do it.

See ya fellow Viking.

Howdy,again,'"Dwt60"! After the first couple of days of smacking my knee,I opted out of the long-term effects of knee damage! I covered the dog-house with a quilted moving blanket. It helped with heat and noise issues,as well! "See Ya"!!

Just a follow-up about the brake/clutch master cylinder replacement. I did find what appears to be an exact replacement for my 60 Viking, and it was on Amazon and only cost about $50. You sure cant beat the price! It arrived and looks brand new, complete with the brake and clutch assembled and ready to install. Will install this winter when I have more time.....in the meantime, I just keep driving her around the farm without brakes.
