My 'High Torque' 283 is getting pretty tired and in need of some freshening up. I have a Powerglide transmission and what seems to be about a 4.10 rearend. My thought was that I'll probably need a .030 overbore and to go with an RV cam and maybe move up from the two barrel Rochester and use a factory 4 barrel intake and Quadrajet. I know the 283 doesn't need a very big carb but I don't think overfueling should be a problem. And I'll have the heads worked on too and move up to an HEI ignition as well. Does anyone see any problems with this combo? I'm not looking to make a racetruck but I would like to have a peppy and reliable daily driver with a reasonable amount of fuel economy. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 319 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 319 | I've never been a fan of PowerSlide trannys, except for high-horsepower drag use, but everything else sounds good. Those little small blocks are very happy at higher rpms. Good luck. If you can't fix it with a hammer and screwdriver, you need a bigger hammer.1965 Chevy C10 | | |
