I have a 53 GMC longbed with 228, origional patina, (cumberland blue) interior, wood in bed, ect. Less than 63000 miles. I'm the 3rd owner. I have records that go back to the 70's from the origional owner. She has NO rust and purrs like a kitten. The truck has been in Tulsa all its life had been in storage for many years. I have kept stored inside as well. I put a new fuel tank and a new set of radials on her. She is in great shape. What would be a fair price to ask for the truck? I am located in Tulsa OK. Thanks for any advice.

standard wisdom around here is it's worth what someone will pay for it, so ask what you want and take what you can get otherwise, here's a guesstimate to start with

About three years ago, I found one for a fellow bolter. We looked for quite a while to find a 53 5 window longed GMC and they are difficult to find. He found a decent one running, licensed and virtually rust free. He paid $5000 for it and has been doing work to bring it up to his standards, but was quite happy to find it.

At that time I would say, to find a decent 53 GMC longed, they were priced between $4000 - $7500 and up. We found a nice restored one for $15000, but that was higher than he wanted to pay.

Post some pictures of yours, and when you decide to sell it, post it in the swap meet section with your asking price.

I had an opportunity to photograph a 1/2 ton '49 GMC longbed that was for sale a year or so ago on e-Bay. It had 2700 original miles, original paint & interior, tires, etc. and documentation to go with it. Here is a link to some of the pictures: '49 GMC longbed The owner ended up selling it to a collector who collected only original paint & interior vehicles for $32K proving that it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
