I have a '50 Chevy Styleline deluxe. The car is 100% original with 46,000 miles. Anyway, the fuel gauge is not working properly. When I turn on the power for the car, the gauge moves from "Empty" to "Full" and stays there. What do you think is wrong with the guage? This is the only gauge that doesn't work.

It could be a few things. Since the car is 100% original, my money's on the sending unit. It sounds like it's either stuck or it's shot.

It is possible that the gauge has died a horrible, painful death, as well, but I'd check the sending unit first.

And welcome to the 'bolt! (Got any pictures?)

this may sound too simple, but ive had many gauges show only extremes one way or another, only to find out the wire to the gauge/sending unit wasnt making good a connection. easy to check at least smile

Sounds like you have either the wrong gauge or a defective gauge. And please turn off the caps lock...

The gauge will go to "full" when the wire is not connected to the sender, may be broken or bad connection ?

When your guage goes to full with power applied you either have a bad sending unit or a faulty ground. Make sure you replace the sending unit with a stock one or an aftermarket one with a 30 ohm resistance. Good luck.
