For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 235 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2013 Posts: 235 | I tried to track down a squeak on the passenger side today and opened what appears to be a door hinge access panel to the right of the heater. It looks like the PO may have done a slight modification in the frame and body connections inside that access panel, which may be causing the squeak. I would like to see if anyone can help me find a diagram of the interior of that access panel or perhaps a photo of the interior that is likely to be stock.

That's about what I saw, so there must be a loose bolt or something else moving in there. Guess I'll start taking things apart until the squeak stops. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,301 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,301 | The factory installed an anti-squeak material that appears to be the same anti-squeak material used on the small panels screwed on to firewall near the top of the inner fender. It was stapled into place before they welded on the outer side cowl (I'm guessing). You can feel it if from the inside if you reach up high above the louvered potion of the outer cowl. I don't understand what its purpose was, as I didn't notice where it contacts anything. I would say to turn up the radio if you have one, but then its hard to hear the engine rpm to know when to shift.
