I am located in south central Michigan. Does anyone have, or know of a place to find parts for a 55 panel in this area?
I am looking for a right fender, as well as patch panels for the quarters.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Try Ray Stanley for the patch panels for the quarters.

here are a few pics of the retrieval process and with a set of newer Chevy truck wheels so I can roll it in and out of the garage as needed.

Hu99;

Are you talking about patch panels for behind the rear wheels? If so, please post details if you get anywhere with the source recommended above. I am very interested in patch panels also. Haven't been able to find a source for panels/suburbans yet.

Thanks

Ray does AD panel body pieces, but last I heard he doesn't have any patterns for the TF bodies, but if you can supply him a good pattern he'll duplicate it perfectly

I cut the wheel openings out of two step side fenders and welded them in place. I also had to make panels for in front of the wheel openings, and behind. I used the lower rear corners of the fenders for the rear corners of the body. It is not great because there are lots of welded seams, but I am happy how it turned out. Here is what it looks like.

I learned from Stovebolt that the step side openings are the same, fleetside are not.

Good luck!

Major progress IMO.

So, you cut the bad out of the panel, then matched with donor sections?

Yes, the previous owner had pop riveted in aluminum flashing and built it up with long strand Bondo. As you can imagine, it looked awful. I also bought rocker panels and welded them to the bottom of my patch panels. So on each side I had: front panels made of 20 gauge hot rolled sheet metal with a rocker panel welded to the bottom. Behind that the donor section, then a patch panel made of 20 gauge connected at the bottom to the donor fender corner.

Not sure about Bill Wales in Carleton, Michigan. The person I purchased my panel from dealt with him.
